This collection of Victorian microscopic specimen slides belonged to the late Joseph Gall and was gifted by his wife Diane Dwyer to Jean Fan, who made this website to digitize the contents for posterity.

The antique brass microscope depicted here is the Weeham binocular microscope with separate eyepiece drives manufactured by Husbands and Clarke Bristol in the 1800s, acquired in parts from Historical Technology Inc by Joe in 1978, and reassembled by Jean in 2025.

Tools and equipment used:

  • Microscope: Nikon Labophot with a variety Nikon Plan objectives
  • Macro photography of the slides: Nikon D3S with a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens
  • Videography and non-macro photography: Sony Alpha 6100 with a Sigma f/1.4 lens
